The Economic Geology Division within the Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy plays a crucial role in promoting Namibia’s mineral resources and attracting investment for sustainable development. Our division focuses on investigating, reporting, and promoting the potential of various mineral commodities.

By effectively fulfilling these objectives, the Economic Geology Division contributes to the growth and prosperity of Namibia’s mining sector.

Subdivisions

  • Precious, Base, and Rare Metals Subdivision: Responsible for research, reporting, and delineating areas with potential for precious, base, and rare metals. Manages mineral and water exploration samples in Windhoek and Tsumeb.
  • Industrial Minerals and Dimension Stones Subdivision: Conducts research, reports, and delineates areas with potential for industrial minerals and dimension stones. Compiles dimension stone catalogs.
  • Precious and Semi-Precious Stones Subdivision: Focuses on research, reporting, and delineating new targets for precious and semi-precious stones.
