Their Mission
- Knowledge Enhancement: Conduct scientific investigations to increase knowledge and awareness of Namibia’s geological resources.
- Data Dissemination: Share high-quality research data to support decision-making and resource management.
- Resource Exploration and Assessment: Facilitate the search for and evaluation of mineral resources, geological engineering, and land use planning.
- Sustainable Development: Promote sustainable development practices that consider environmental impacts.
Objectives
As the custodian of Namibia’s geological heritage, the GSN aims to:
- Responsible Development: Encourage responsible and sustainable development of mineral resources.
- Benefit for All: Ensure that the benefits of geological resources are shared equitably among Namibians.
Structure
- The GSN comprises of two directorates and six divisions, each specialising in a specific area of geological research and services.
