Sub Divisions

  • Airborne Geophysics: Responsible for airborne geophysical surveys, including magnetic, radiometric, electromagnetic, and hyperspectral data acquisition and interpretation.
  • Ground Geophysics: Conducts ground geophysical surveys using various techniques like gravity, magnetic, electromagnetic, seismic, and resistivity.

Ground Geophysics Subdivision

Key Activities

  • Conducts ground geophysical surveys using gravity, magnetic, electromagnetic, seismic, and resistivity methods.
  • Provides data for geological mapping, mineral exploration, and environmental studies.
  • Maintains a database of over 13,000 gravity stations.
  • Conducts joint research projects with international partners.

Interpretation Geophysics Subdivision

  • Conducts airborne geophysical surveys to identify potential mineral targets.
  • Collects data on magnetic susceptibility, rock density, radioactive elements, and reflectance spectra.
  • Offers a variety of airborne geophysical data products, including high-resolution magnetic and radiometric data.

Interpretation Geophysics Subdivision

Crustal Geophysics Subdivision

  • Maintains the Tsumeb International Monitoring Station as part of the
  • Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).
  • Conducts research on earthquake hazards and seismic micro-zonation mapping.
